Quoting from my reference library of ancient _Road and Track_ magazines: February, 1979: E12 weight 3400, length 190", width 67.2", height 55.9"; from February, 1982: E28: weight 3215 (528e), length 189", width 66.9", height 55.7. These dimensions are for USA models, and the E28 does have a lower nose and higher tail, but I can't see any car cover being so precisely tailored that it wouldn't fit either.
