Since the inlet to the air box is already larger than the air flow meter and throttle, cutting holes in the bottom of the air box will not make a difference.

Two things that will help are: 1. K&N air filter, 2. cold air hose from the air box inlet thru the headlight back cover.

Keep the revs up and the shiny side up...
