It seems BMW clutches stiffen at the pedal as they age. I replaced the one in my E-28 535 with a standard E-12 cluth and the pedal effort was halved. However with the late clutch disc and earlier pressure plate I had some interference problems if the pedal was pushed all the way to the floor. But no problem with too much torque and slipping.
