i recently got a 77 525 katalysator. european one. for 5 years i have a 73 2002, so i, basically, know how to treat a car from that period. i got the car w/out user's manual and my local bmw representatives are not very helpful.

questions are - what kind of engine/gearbox/differential oil i need?
Generally engines of that era recommended 10W30 engine oil, 80W90 HP for gearbox and differnetial. If you have any oil leak at all, synthetic oil will run through the leak faster.

what are the weak spots, what are the strong spots? body?
Chassis is strong, no major rust traps. Like any car that age, you will probably need to replace rubber bushings in the suspension.

internet user groups?
firstfives.org is a site I regularly go to. Also bmwcca.org. Both have links to other sites, including some outside the US.

thank you very much!

BIGg.

Welcomt to the group!!
