"thought you all might like an objective evaluation of the cut and sewn carpet kits available from world uph. carpet itself is decent quality and looks like stock, mine is salt and pepper. kit consists of approx 15 pieces that must be installed in proper order and glued down. i used 3M spray upholsry adhesive. you need alot! at least 3 cans @$10.50 a can.
you do get directions but i must admit that it took me a while, laying out pieces to figure it out. kit includes bound carpet piece for speaker deck.
finished product looks good but the bound seams on both main pieces that run along floor on both sides are positioned so they are very visible behind pedals and same location on pass side.
i pulled up all the old, nasty foam backed underpad and replaced it with a felt style underpad from an upholsry supply shop. used aluminun faced on fwd firewall and along exhaust system run.also must be bonded to car with adhesive. cost of pad: $35
its a labor intensive job but the results were worth it. interior of car looks really good!
as far as i know it is the only option except for those roadworks moulded carpet kits.
prep is hardest part of job. pulling out all the old stuff."
