The head gasket was just replaced as part of the deal. If the head gasket blew wouldnt I have oil in the antifreeze? Where are you located. Thanks for your insight...
Not necessaryily...
Could be the gasket is shot between one of the bores and an oil return. Or a crack in the head itself.
To use 1qt in 100 miles is very excessive. Even my british cars have never done that (and most of the oil leaks on the bottom of the car). Good think they hold 7-9 quarts.
You really need to do some serious engine checking (leakdown/compression etc). You could unplug the valve cover breather hose from the throttle body and plug the throttle body fitting. This might give you a clue...
One of my M535i engines used alot of oil due to bad valve guides. But it would only do so down very steep grades. Over years of use it coated the entire intake manifolds w/a thick oil mess.... but the engine didn't really loose power. (BTW I'm using a programable EFI w/no l-jet AFM in the intake system so having it out of adjustment wasn't the problem)
