You mentioned a drive to KC -- are ou in the KC area, and do you plan to go to the club event in August? If so, we can compare notes there.

Mean While, for the oil consumption, I'm with the others here. Blown head gasket is most likely to show as one low cylinder compression. But a leak down test will tell more. My vote is for some serious vacuum leak, so you're sucking oil through the valve cover breather. You lost power because the plugs are so fouled.

Just my guess from what you said so far. Keep us posted.
