Newbie buying a '80 528i (archive)

Hi, I have recently, for some reason, become attracted to BMWs and am looking at a 1980 528i with 157,000 miles and on the surface looks to be in excellent condition with a selling price of $3175. The car has been for sale for at least 6 weeks that I know of. Maybe the other lookers know something I don't know. From another website I learned that I need to check the cylinder head and look for rusty shock towers. Since I am a newbie is there any other advice or input anybody would like to share with me? Also according to Kelly's blue book the price is high. Thanks in advance.
