For that much money, it should be a very nice original car, well-maintained with records to prove it, needing no work beyond very minor stuff. If it is not as above, offer less or look elsewhere. I have seen lots of early 528i's in good running condition for $2500 and less. They are wonderful cars, but will never be worth much, so don't pay too much.
