I just bought a 1980 528i. The engine is blown. Will any other engines maybe from a 535i or 735i fit? I'm talking just the bare block and head. I'll swap the old fuel injection. Or do I have to go with just the same 2.8 liter?
Any help would be appreciated.

My bad Daniel, I'm just going on what I have heard many mechanics say, I guess they are wrong. I have a 3.5 L block but decided to put another 2.8 in my e12. My understanding was that you would have to firm up the suspension and put a stress bar in. I guess not. I would definitely go for it as it sounds like it would work. Best of luck, no flame war Greg, thanks for clearing that up, I still have that L block, maybe it is time for it to go in, too.
