...and it was an easy swap. I kept the old fuel injection and ignition. Doing it that way needs a cam repair nut because the later Motronic cams don't have anything to drive the distributor. Then the rest of the old distributor drive goes on.

Basically I set one engine next to the other and swapped everything that was different on the newer 3.5 -- heater hose connections and oil pump pickup tube are the wierdest ones I remember. But all the old bits bolted right up to the new engine.

Took me a week to swap it all (in my home garage with no power tools) and get the car back on the road, with 40 more HP and 50 more ft-lb torque :-)
