Yes, head bolts should be replaced (they stretch). They are considered single use only.
I believe Metric Mechanic sells the nut which goes on the end of your cam. Check with Jim Rowe on this one.



I'm getting geared up for the 3.5 swap in my 80' 528i. When I replace the head gasket, do I need to replace the old head bolts? And about the modification that must be done to the cam, what all does that require? Do you have to weld a nut on the end of the cam.
