yes, on m30 engines you can reuse the head bolts, they are not the stretch kind (that's on the small block sixes). go to www.firstfives.org and look in the faq section for all you ever wanted to know about the 3.5 l swap.

I'm getting geared up for the 3.5 swap in my 80' 528i. When I replace the head gasket, do I need to replace the old head bolts? And about the modification that must be done to the cam, what all does that require? Do you have to weld a nut on the end of the cam.
