If it's a stock 528i/530i, and it's rusty, I'd say $500 to $750 and it's a parts car at that, because rust hides in strange places, never goes away and costs a fortune to try and replace.

I bought an absolutely rust-free, excellent 80 528i that only had minor front end sheet metal damage... replaced the hood, grille, radiator. Paid $500, and put $675 in it. Had a flawless interior, including the carpets.

This was not an unusual find. Right now, I know where there are three more rustfree cars in various states of repair for $1000 and less.
