The engine/transmission swap is no problem, but you'll also want to use the diff from your 635. That dogleg close ratio trans mates to a 3.07 diff, while the overdrive trans in the US cars mates to a 3.45 diff.

You regularly see cars for sale--price/condition vary from $1000 to $3000, or more for some special cars, less for a project car (which might be right up your alley).
