Your name keeps popping up all over the E-12 boards, , , so I have a question for you. I have a '79 M535i with a clattering transmission (believe it is the mainshaft bearing) and can't find anyone who doesn't get the puzzled look on their face when asking for a rebuild. I'm in Atlanta. Any ideas or suggestions that could lead me toward getting this tranny fixed correctly? Thank you. Jeff Campbell

If you truly have a M535i then you have the 265 CR transmission (dog leg shift pattern).

This is an expensive unit to rebuild correctly and many local transmission shops probably won't do it.

Metric mechanic wants about $1700+ for a rebuild. Look in the Roundel and see if there are any other vendors (BMW, Bavarian auto etc) that will be cheaper. Also try Korman Autowerkes.

Good luck,

WH

Thank you for your prompt reply. I do indeed have the 265CR dog-leg 5. Will try your suggestion. Thanks again. Jeff Campbell
