Otherwise, find a set of cast iron Bav/E3/E9/Euro E12 exhaust manifolds.
Next, get a pair of Bav/E9/Euro E12
downpipes for your car to mate the
exhaust manifolds to center resonator.
You can possibly get these used.
18 11 1 246 262 (front)
18 11 1 346 255 (rear)
75-76 Center pipe is single pipe that flows
well and is (was?) cheap. 18 12 1 245 621.
NLA via BMW, try Bosal
75-76 rear muffler: 18 12 1 245 622.
NLA via BMW, try Bosal
System will be a little loud (thrummy).
I suggest welding a threaded boss into
one of the downpipes to accept an 02 sensor.
(pick a spot where there is room). This
is helpful when recalibration the air meter
and/or when refitting later Lamda L-jet in
your car.
Stock Euro pipes (not cheap):
front muffler: 18 12 1 245 982
rear muffler: 18 12 1 246 584
Early L-jet can be set up to run decently,
though it will never run as well as
later system. Valve adjustment is VERY
important.

What I did was install a set of stall headers and run 2 3/4 inch pipe to a flow master. Veary loud, great at high speed but I did lose a little touque at the low revs. The car sounds like it has a turbo on it above 4k.
Your car being a euro should not have thermal reactors. you should have the european manafolds and they are veary good. just ilimanate the center muffler and weld on a flowmaster. My 78 530i will pas the CA sniff test but I am glad I dont as I live in NC.
