I finally replaced my starter again. It usually clicked 3 to 4 times before working and was worse in cold weather. Third starter in 10 years/150k. It wasn't that old, and never worked very well, but I didn't feel like replacing the wiring to the ignition switch or the ring gear. The new rebuilt Bosch starter runs perfectly--better than any of the previous ones did. Use the box wrench from the trunk tool kit.
