If it is a short puff or even a bit of a cloud it is probably valve guide seals, they fail by getting hard from heat so they will no longer seal. If it lasts longer it could be a bad head gasket, anti-freeze burns blue, or a leaking fuel injector, if it really leaks badly it can cause smoking for a while after startup, I even got a ticket for that one time, I had just dumped a bunch of injector cleaner in and before it reseated it leaked a bunch one night. The fix was easy, I just drove it a few miles and it cleared up permanitely.
