I currently drive a 1976 530i (without a Thermal Reactor). I have recently encountered a problem that occurs when warming up the car and cruising at highway speed. While warming up the car, the RPM's will slightly and gradually increase as the car warms up and then will level off at around the 1000 rpm range. During this warming up process, sometimes the engine will suddenly drop in rpm and almost go quiet for a split second. It almost sounds like for that split second, the engine did not receive any fuel. This also happens when I am driving at highway speed. I will be cruising along and then suddenly it sounds AND FEELS as though the engine either cut out (for a split second) or wasn't getting fuel for a split second. Does anyone out their know what this might be??? I have recently installed a new air filter, changed the spark plugs and installed high performance plug-wires from Bavarian. It has been a couple years since I had the timing adjusted. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks E12'ers. Derek 76 530i
