Having trouble with my oil light. Its staying on eventhough the engine is topped up. I've also replaced the oil sensor at the back of the head. Are there any other sensors regarding oil or do I need to replace my oil pump. Would blocked oil passages result in the light staying on?

Please help, need to have this baby running before the snow comes.

Roman

Roman,
The oil pressure light came on in my 1983 533i two years ago and after replacing the oil pressure sensor, removing the engine, removing the oil pan, checking the oil pump, and removing the rocket panel - all parts in perfect condition, the culprit turned out to be a misassembled oil filter bracket. The oil by-pass valve had been misassembled and let loose sending small pieces of metal and a circlip into the engine!! Before doing any expensive engine work, please check this valve carefully. After two years, the car was driven for the first time yesterday. Finally, the engine oil pressure light is off!! Luckily, my husband is an engine design engineer and had the pleasure of doing all this work. Hopefully, you be spared this agony.
Eileen
