yeah, its a complaint of mine as well. they are very long gears on these auto E12's (how else can u make 3 gears work thru 100MPH?) as a result, you push really high RPM's at hwy speeds. it sucks too, as your manual trannies will be loafing at 70MPH in 4th or 5th. anyway, i dont have experience with 4-spd's, but a manual would obviously make it better.

on a side-note, i am driving my E12 across country in about a month. i am scurrying around looking for a manual bmw (an E12 would be great) so i dont have to listen to that rev for 4 days straight. it may be a lost cause, as my budget is very prohibitive right now ($1K max) anybody know of anything to help?
