5 Speed vs Automatic (archive)

Is there ANYTHING at all good about having an automatic as opposed to a 5 speed 528i? I'd prefer the 5 but may wind up getting an auto provided the conversion isn't a tremendous headache. If anyone out there has ever converted auto to 5 speed and feels like sharing some of their wisdom with me I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance.
