which uses both of the side mounting tabs. Why bother modifying the original E12 crossmember when there's one available that uses both side mounts. I just ordered one from Maximillian plus new rubber mounts for the outlandish sum of $57 !!! I used this to mount a Getrag 265 OD from an E12 528i into my '83 533i. According to the ETK the crossmember for the '85 E28 535i(23 71 1 175 731) supersedes the P/N for the E12 application.

The Flat Washers are used on the transmission end of the Rubber Mount and the Wave Washers are used on the Crossmember side of the Rubber Mount.

Is it held by two or only one tab at the rear of the transmission?

I'll back up WH on this one. There are two brackets on the transmission case. Cross member only has one hole to use the trans mount on one side. I have a spare trans mount, and will drill a hole on the other side of the cross member and bolt it in one of these days...
