Help,

I was recently handed down this car in decent shape, but it had no manual.

I have two questions. First, where is the battery located? a friend suggested under the rear seat, but I've been unable to open it to verify.

Second, where is the oil filter? I bought the necessary parts, but cannot find the filter. Is there a box/housing I need to look for?

I'm sorry these questions are probably pathetic, but this is my first experience owning a bmw.
