You amy have a massive air/vacuum leak or the intake airflow meter is not connected. Secondarily the fuel pump (which relies on the fuel to keep it cool) may have burned up.

Check both. This will probably cure what ails.


I have a 1977 bmw 530i that just isn't running correctly. It ran out of gas a few weeks ago and hasn't run right since. I replaced the fuel filter and now am stuck on what to try. The car will start and idles irradically but it wants to die if you push the gas pedal. It will not run above 1500 Rpms. If any one can help me out on this please do. Thanks
