Low cost - free flow exhaust? (archive)

I would like to put a freer flowing exhaust on my 1980 528i which has the original setup at current. Don't want to spend the bucks for a stainless steel system. I have a local shop in town that can do just about anything... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also - does anyone know of a product to remove the haze / peeling from the bumper chrome?
