I have a 76 530i. I needed to replace the motor. A friend gave me (dropped off) a beamer motor. He said it was newer and out of a different body than mine but was suppose to cross over nicely. Before I could talk to him about what it is and out of what it came from he ended up in jail for the next 6-8 months.
So I have this motor --- how do I find out what it is and from what kind of BMW model it came from?
Are there numbers and where do I find the numbers on the motor? Is there a number set (five numbers, 6 numbers, 7 numbers, etc.)? If there are numbers, is there some site to put in the numbers that will tell me what this motor is and from what it came from??
