The five speed cars are nicer but I wouldn't exclude a 528i 4 speed from 79. I put 130k on mine before I was rear ended by a pickup truck. It at that time had about 330k on the car, albeit not with the original engine but was still a good tight car. Kids are still driving it today with 355k on it and the only real complaint is it isn't a nice straight body anymore.
