1995 525 popping out of first gear (archive)

My wife's car pops out of first gear intermittantly. It happens to me too but I can't identify any predictable circumstances--meaning I can't get it to happen when I take it to the dealer. The shifter linkage feels tight; the lever feels fully engaged; I've told my wife to keep her hand off the lever (to avoid downward pressure), etc. I assume there is something wrong with the syncro but otherwise, the tranny seems fine. The car has an extended warranty (100k). Any ideas on how I can get dealer to fix it? Thanks. Dan
