Im a big 5 series fan, just cant afford one! however, i found a ad for a 1981 528i in the paper for 500 bux, 5 spd, runs/drives, needs work. I know nothing about these e12's, so i was wondering what "needs work" might be refering to, b/c i plan to do all work myself as ive done on my 325e. Also i was wondering what type of motor these cars have in them? 4cyl, 6 cyl, are they injected, carburated;
6 cyl--aka big six, same basic block and head as 533i/535i with L-Jet fuel injection and catalytic converter.

Horsepower?, are they classified as economy like the ETA(low rpm)(528e, 325e) or more like the "i" motor(high rpm) in the 325i, 535i?
Like the 535i--mine seems to perk up pulling thru 3300rpm, then it's strong to the redline.

Also wanted to know about interior features, as the ad says it has sunroof, does it have an OBC, power seats, AC(were these options)? Does it have power steering(not that it matters)?
Normally equipped with power sunroof, windows, and door locks, power steering and A/C. They do not have power seats or OBC, but power seats from an e28 series car are feasible.

Also i know that the e28 M5's have tranny problems does that go for the e12's too?
5-speed trans in the e12 cars is stronger than in the e28. Also the front suspension and rear trailing arms are more robust.

Sorry for the long post but i have a bunch more questions about this car once i get a reply and i like the idea (maily about mods). If possible, can someone post a pic of their car,(the same year) im tring to get an image of the body style. Thanks a bunch.
