Gruppe,

I'm from the e28 board. I drive that beautiful cirrusblau '87 528e that you've all been dreaming about (yeah right).

Anyway, I bought a 3.45 diff from a guy with a Euro '81 528i. It's an e28. I know because I've seen the pics. So, obviously it was one of the first ones built. Legend has it that the early e28s had a different differential than the newer ones. Well, I didn't learn about this special fact until after I had bought and tried to install the diff.

It turns out the rear cover has a centered mount on it. On my '87 528e, the mount on the rear cover is offset to the left. In addition, my diff is a touch shorter than the older diff. I'm thinking these things will fit an e12.

Give me a day or two (or a few hours if I get ambitious after typing this post), and I should have pics for you.

If you want this 3.45 open diff in very good condition (the seller said it made zero noise when he took it out of his e28), e-mail me at the supplied addy and we can discuss pricing and details.

Thanks for allowing the spam!
