I don't remember the details, but a discussion happened on www.firstfives.org that mentioned the timing *not* being TDC. I'm still not ready to do that much, so I glazed over when reading the thread. Use the search engine and find the thread, and I think one of us will be suprised. (prolly me!)

Assuming the basics like compression I'd look at timing since if it's too far retarded it will radically affect power.

Ya, I even went out and got a new fancy timing light to the tune of $100. The little do-wangy is supposed to be EXACTLY ON THE MARK since there is no scale, right? The chilton manual said line up the bead exactly with the pointy thing. Normally this is top dead center, but I'm assuming the manual is correct?

I'll double check the compression...
