sputtering problem with my L-jet. need help/advice (archive)

I have a bav that I put early l-jet into. the engine was running really well for a few weeks. then it began to sputter/stumble at various rpm's??? it runs great up until about 3k rpm's.

I changed the fuel press. regulator
changed the fuel filter
changed the plugs
intalled a brand new pertronix elec. ignition
re-adjusted the valve lash
tried a different maf sensor
tried a different ecu

the only thing I didn't change so far is the fuel pump.

The only other possibility I think is maybe the timing chain slipped a couple teeth perhaps??
