530i - good buy? Need opinions........ (archive)

I have the opportunity to purchase a non-running '78 530i- body is in excellent shape, interior is trashed, glass is all present and good, but, definitely a restoration job-for around 300.00. Currently, I have 2002's and 320's and was curious if these are great cars? How do they handle, what about wear and tear, ease of repair, etc?
