I too, have a 79 320i and have done alot of work to get the AC working, if you have a good working compressor that should be fine, mine is OK but I would like to upgrade to a rotary compressor. They just dont tax the motor so much and you dont have any idle compensation for the comp. kicking in. I forget who it is but they sell a kit that changes the system to a sanden compressor with all necessary brackets and hose connectors, I would but the bracket kit and find a compressor in the junkyard for this. Most jap cars and newer dodges, geo, etc use this same comp.

I recall the full kit being around $500, I can get the compressors all day for $35-$55. I think the bracket kit is around $40-50. tell me which way you would go.

: I've decided to bite-the-bullet and get my AC working. I've purchased a used '79 compressor and a new receiver/drier. Is this a good plan or should I upgrade in some way while I'm at it? If you currently live or have ever lived in the South you will understand the need for AC.

: Thanks,

: Marc
