I had posted info down below on the gear ratio differences between each of the 5 speeds . Follow the link below to go into my posting. Also read others' followups for extra info.

To find out what gear ratios your transmission has, count the revolutions of turns needed on the input shaft to return one complete revolution on the output shaft for each gear.
That should get you in the ball park.

As for prices, I do not have a clue. If I had to guess, however, I would think $200-$300 is a fair price range.

: I have an M60 tranny that came with a 323i that I'm working on. I know its a five speed but is it a close ratio or overdrive? Also, how much are these things worth?
