I recently experienced a surging problem (323i) and 100ft later, the car died. My initial impression was "..chek vacuum leak". Couldn't get it to start back up again. I opened up the hood, checked for spark, found out none was coming out of the plug wires, went to the distributor, jiggled the clip at the distributor, and the car cranked right up.
Wishing you good luck w/ curing this problem.
: As I drove home in my 79 today, I noticed some surging. uh oh, vaccuum leak, I thought, I'll have to look at that when I get home. Then the car stopped revving at 3 grand, and no matter how hard I pushed down on the pedal, nothing would happen, or it would lurch and stop. When I got home, I proceeded to check all vaccuum lines. Everything seemed ok, so I went to start the car again, and it wouldn't start. I decided that now would be a good time to get the Haynes manual and hook up all the hoses the right way. They weren't. After doing this, the car will kick off, but will die within seconds. It's frustrating, to say the least. My question is, with all the vaccuum lines correctly in place, and this symptomology, where do I go from here? I'm truly lost. Any advicce/suggestions would be GREATLY apprectiated. TIA everyone
