: Oliver,

: I own a 316 1979 which I modified the best I Could, the car drives great with the upgraded suspension and brakes.

: The engine has 40 DCOEs with enlarged intake ports, high compression BMW pistons and a lightened flywheel, but since I installed the carbs the car works erratically, I re-jeted the carbs but I only could decrease the aceleration power, can not rev the carb as I did with my WEBER 32/36 DGAV

: I used to burm my tires when shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2ND to 3RD, now It is imposible to rev the engine at that speed. Besides that the car started smoking very hard. At idle the car shakes badly.

: Any suggestion to tune this carbs and make them work properly?

: How different is your 300ºBMW camshaft to the 292 or 304 scrink camshafts? I am planning to add a new sport camshaft to my car and can't decide which is best suited for a car that runs in street and track races.

Hello,
the BMW 300° has less power at high revs and runs a little better at low revs than the 304° Schrick, but you can run both good on street. Over 4000rpm both are real good. When you want higher revs (over 7500rpm) I would prefer the 304°. About 150hp should be possible with the 1.6 engine and Weber 40DCOE.
Do you have an electrical or mechanical fuel pump?
When you have a mech. pump the engine gets maybe not enough fuel (at higher revs).
Are the synchronisation and jettings correct?
Do the accerleration pumps of the carb. work correct?

Greetings Oliver Hitzel
