I agree that the 323i will be more dependable and has more creature comforts. But... a 2002 can be worked on any where..even on the side of the road. They make kits that will replace the points, and a rebuilt carb is good for 50 k miles at least.. I have a Baur 1969 2002 convert and a 320is [ with 70 k original miles] I wish the 320 was a 323, its a slow car but can really take the corners. The 02 is fun, I get thumbs up from many BMW owners and the car will only go up in value. I would check the cost of parts for the 323.. how much is the engine to rebuild, what about the steering rack or Fuel injection parts..

Either way you have a great car..
