When that conversion was performed by Alpina, they used to change the transmission tunnel for the one from a 5 series, if I remember properly. Because the tranny from an M30 is bulky.
That transplant will render your car VERY dangerous. I met a guy in Connecticut who would import them in the 80s. He smashed a few ones because of their really poor handling.
A regular E21 is dangerous, one with a transplant can be lethal. Do not lift the throttle too fast...
