If the boots are not bad on the rack, it should be fine. The rack bushings are notorious for disintergrating. You can replace them for about 40.00 with poly and should make a big improvement. Other than that, check and replace any worn parts line tie rod (inner ball and socket and outter) and ball joints.

What kind of shocks/springs/wheels/tires are you running. You would be shocked what tires can do for/to handling.
