IF the bolts keep backing off, consider using Lock-Tite adhesive sealant on brand new bolts and new lock washers. Hurst or Mr. Gasket sells shifter lock washers for their hot rod shifters. Might try them.

: My e21 gear shift always comes loose. I have tightented the 2 bolts securing the gear shift before and the gear shift felt solid and concise. After just a few days, the gear shift seems to become looser and looser and now I suspect I need to retightened the bolts again.
: Any idea how I can fasten them or why they are coming loose?
