Problem solved. It was the loose wire. Now the gear shift is loose.

: Hello,

: I just came back from the wireman. The alternator was charging but at an intermittent rate. Hence the problem was rooted from a loose earth connection at the alternator. The battery man gave me another new Varta battery and then tightened the nut to the earth wire.
