: I just completed, well, almost completed a website for my friend that has a foreign car wrecking yard.....

Dan,
Though not the message board for critiques...here goes....
FrontPage is fine. I see you are using fp98. Besure to get the fp98b update and fp-netscape inclusions from Microsoft...it's a freebie.
I like the light green on the front page. I'd carry it through the whole web site. The green with the neat AF logo gives the site that 50's era look. I like it. Dump the "pop your eyes out" blue in later pages.
FP kills java and is tailored to Internet Explorer. The button effects are neat, but you can use cleaner NON-FP scripts to do the same thing using a lot less resources. It took a while to cache the script before the buttons worked. About 2 minutes. ( coulda been my ultra-high bandwidth 56k eat s**t and die connection )
The slide show of parts is nice (german parts page). The graphics are way to big. The germani.gif weighs in at 142k. Resample your pic and get them down to a more usable file size. Everyone will be happier and more likely to stick around.

Looks like the Asian and Brit sections aren't up yet. I'll check in a few days. See whats up.

The Yard Tour needs graphic help also. The first pic yard.jpg came in at 27k. I saved the pic, opened it in PSP saved it back again and took off 10k. I didn't touch a thing. Try making your compression for jpg's around 30. That'll get the nice bright and clear picture, quick download and managable or viewers like me.

Again, I like the layout. It's simple and to the point. Don't go get flashy and and start pop all kind of funky scripts into it. They look good....the first time.... the 2nd time is boring. Always remember the KISS factor.

Order Page....The form is not bad. The graphics are at it again. the Visa and MC gifs are 8k & 13k respectively. Gif's this size should be under 1k. Also..***PLEASE** take heed...Put a disclaimer on the page and notify folks that the page is Insecure...and DO NOT send their c/c info via the form. Have them call it in. They'll appreciate you!!!!

The Rebuilder page is not bad at all. Pretty good. As you add more vehicles to the line up, hand coding is gonna be tiresome. You may think about using a database script that builds the page on the fly for you. Check out Easyperl data base cgi script. Much easier and a whole lot less time consuming!

Contact page....Opps, the graphic thing again. The map, no doubt, is a must. Drop it down in size, resample for file size and place a border around the map. Open image properties and select border="1" for the map. Looks nicer.

The About.... ok.....I might use Arial or Verdana in stead of Comic Sans thoughout the entire site. Arial/Verdana are crisp and clean, and much more professional looking.

Again, keep the light green. It's easy on the eyes.

Good Luck....yer on the right track!

Les
