: I'm actually serious though. They are not available rebuilt, only new, and they are over 900.00. I have never taken one apart, but know from the bosch tech manual that they are pretty simple inside. There are several very fine slots in it which meter fuel. If I were going to mess with one I really would get a few cheap ones and take them apart to see how they tick. That way you will know the things to look for when you go for the "real" one.
: You might try manually moving the air flow sensor. If it is frozen solid then you know that the piston in the fuel distributor is rusted up.
: You might try some wd-40 or lps in all the fittings for a few days. see if that losens it up.
: Water in the fuel is the number one killer of CIS injection. In truth, unless origionallity is a primary concern, you could likely convert it to "i" Motronic.

: : : That is a 900.00 fuel distributor. I'd suggest having it looked at by a bosch specialist. If not go get a few vw or 320i ones from a junkyard and destroy them first.
: : : Someone did have aused one for about 400 several months ago.
: : : Seach the arq.

: : : : I'm working on a '79 323i that's been sitting for eight years. I've gotten everything back together on the motor and chassis and now trying to get it running. I've replaced the fuel pump/filter assy, cleaned the lines from the pump to the fuel dist., and the motor will actually start and run for a couple seconds on the fuel from the cold start injector. The problem is that I can't get the fuel to pass through the dist. to the injectors. Are the fuel distributors easy to take apart and clean? Any suggestions before I start tearing it apart?
