I have the same exact problems with my '81 320i. I've checked and fixed minor vacuum problems, which helped. I recently replaced the fuel pressure reservoir/accumulator, which also helped a lot... but it's still not fixed. It runs perfectly sometimes and others it has that annoying up-down-up-down idle between as much as 700 and 1200 RPM... drives fine though. My fuel pump makes a seemingly loud buzz when running, but I suspect it's normal. Is it?

My next shot is cleaning or replacing the injectors as a guess. Is there any experienced help out there??? I'm tired of guessing.

: I have an 83 320i with a wobbly idle. When its cold, its fine.. But when its starting to warm up, and i push in the clutch, sometimes the idle will drop too much, too quickly, and i'll stall out. Once im warmed up all the way though, that usually doesnt happen.. But while sitting in neutral, The idle will dip around from about 800 - 1000.. And sometimes, it doesnt even happen.. I recently fixed the vacuum advance, and that cured a huge problem. Replaced many breather hoses and vacuum lines.. So im pretty sure its not that.. Could it be my fuel pump? Please help me!
