Bobby Thrash at Strictly German in the Atlanta GA area put a 3.5L in an e21 with the regular 320i 5 spd gearbox. He said that everything bolted up, but the driveshaft had to be custom made. He was worried about how long the 5spd could handle all the power of the big six, but I haven't heard back on whether or not he has had to replace the gearbox yet.

: Ive heard that the 5 speed manual out of an early model 320i will mate up to a big six (3.2/3.3L 733i). Any knowledge?
