Well.. it depends on what this local muffler shop is claiming they can do for you. For 600 dollars, that doesnt sound like you'll get headers. If you want to feel an increase in power, you'll need to put on headers. Stock manifolds do suck. So get some headers, (try korman) Then (if you have to use a cat) get a superfree flow cat. These are hard to find, and you will most likely have to use a generic cat and weld it in place. Use an ansa catback exhaust. (ONLY use Ansa if you generally drive you car in longer spurts, not like 5 mins here and there. Ansas will rust from the inside out, due to condensation not being able to get burned off, in short drives) This will cost you a little more than what the muffler shop is saying they can do for you, but it will be nicer.
Eibach springs on bilstein shocks is by far the best way to go.
: Should I have a local muffler shop build a complete performance exhaust for my 1980 323i for about $600 or is there a better option??? The entire exhaust needs replacement.
: What's the concensus on Eibach vs. H&R. A shop is trying to steer me toward H&R and I'm not sure how to go. I'll likely buy Bilsteins....

: This board has helped a great deal to get me up to speed (no pun intended) on my new toy.
