max torque for head on turbo motor (archive)

Normally, head bolts on the M10 engine should be torqued to 54-55 ft lbs. Does anyone have experience or information about using higher torque for the 320i head? Like what the maximum safe value might be (assuming valves are re-adjusted, etc.). The reason for asking is that i'm using a turbocharged motor, and have recently blown a (cutting-ring) head gasket, although head was uniformly torqued to 54ft/lbs (checked all bolts upon disassembly). If feasible, i'd like to torque the head down harder next time, to try and avoid another blowout.
